RIBBING

Ribbing adds flash, helps to bind down the body, and gives a segmented look to nymphs.

I'm going to create a simple ribbed 'buggy' pattern.I've run the thread down and caught in the ribbing material.I'm using a bobbin holder to make the process easier.
Here in close up you can see how I've made several turns of thread to catch in the rib.I've allowed excess rib down the hook so I don't tie an uneven body.
Having dubbed the body, I am making a series of clockwise turns down the hook length.

There you have it - an evenly ribbed pattern.

It's so simple but I bet it would catch fish anywhere
