BEGINNERS GUIDE TO FLY TYING
RIBBING
Ribbing adds flash, helps to bind down the body, and gives a
segmented look to nymphs.
| I'm going to create a simple ribbed 'buggy' pattern.I've run the thread
down and caught in the ribbing material.I'm using a bobbin holder to make
the process easier. |
 |
| Here in close up you can see how I've made several turns of thread to
catch in the rib.I've allowed excess rib down the hook so I don't tie an
uneven body. |
 |
| Having dubbed the body, I am making a
series of clockwise turns down the hook length. |
 |
|
There you have it - an evenly ribbed pattern.
It's so simple but I bet it would catch fish anywhere
